Ukrainian dishes have origins from many different countries such as Poland, Austria and Russia. Ukrainian specialities have also made their way into kitchens of various countries. There are a lot of similar recipes available but what sets the Ukrainian dishes apart are how they are prepared…that’s what makes them uniquely Ukrainian.
Ukrainians like myself consider cooking as art. The dishes need to be pleasing to look at as well as pleasing to taste. They should not be too spicy nor too bland. Grains, meats, fruits and vegetables are used in combination to create a variety of dishes. Many of the foods are rich and delicate in flavour.
In our home, as in many Ukrainian homes, we love to feast. It is always my intention to spare little effort in preparing plenty of delectable foods for our guests.
No one ever leaves our home hungry!
