4 cups flour
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 Tbsp. oil
1 – 1.5 cups lukewarm water (adjust to make a soft dough)
Combine the above ingredients in a bowl. Add the fourth cup of flour gradually and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic. I use my Kitchenaid mixer and I knead on setting #2. Turn out into another mixing bowl. Brush lightly with oil. Cover and leave for 30 minutes to rest before rolling out.
This recipe always turns out tender and the pyrohy do not break open during the boiling process. This recipe can be doubled.
